Player Bio

A genuine batting all-rounder, Martin Andersson is a professional English cricketer for Middlesex who is known for his exquisite cover drives. After bursting onto the scene in 2018, he left for Derbyshire on a loan deal from Middlesex and immediately impressed everyone.

Martin promptly returned back to Middlesex for the latter stages of the season and scalped 12 wickets in the Championship. Frustratingly, injury ruled out Martin for most of the 2019 season. At the age of 19, he first developed issues leading to an operation in April 2019. Two screws on each side of the spine have enabled him to return to cricket.

Following his surgery, the Middlesex all-rounder was told that he would not be able to bowl for four months let alone be match fit. Instead, he focused solely on his batting trying to break it into the playing XI. The Reading-born all-rounder returned again at the backend of 2019, showing his potential with the bat in hand.

Two fifty-plus scores against Kent second XI followed by 68 and 42 not out in successive days in T20 matches against Gloucestershire and Surrey’s second string saw him recalled to the first team in the County Championship against Lancashire. He rewarded the selectors with 83 in the second innings at Old Trafford at the end of the 2019 season.

After a horror injury, Martin has shown character and perseverance of the highest level to bounce back and reignite his career. The Middlesex specialist has been given another chance to show his full potential and he begun the 2021 County season in superb form.
