Player Bio

Jack Plom is another fast bowler of the Essex production line who has emerged in Anthony McGrath’s plans after an impressive pre-season with the First XI. He is a bowler with a genuine pace and has been a former England U-19 player.

Born in Basildon, Plom has represented Shenfield CC in 2016 as a U-19 recruit, before playing for the First XI of the county. However, the break in the pacer came when Essex grabbed him for the 2020 season. He was handed his maiden first-team opportunity during the T20 Blast, that year, taking 7 wickets at 18.42. Amongst his wickets were the notable scalps of Zak Crawley, Sam Billings, and James Vince.

The following year, the Basildon-born penned a contract extension with the Club until the end of the 2021 campaign. The pacer was at his sizzling top-form during the 2021's Vitality Blast campaign, where he continued his knack of picking crucial wickets.

At 21, the seamer has shown tons of promise and calibre in the shortest format, but he wants to use his limited experience in red-ball cricket, whenever he gets the chance.
