Ben Allison is one from the fresh crop of talented faster bowlers who have come through the system for Essex CCC. The fast-bowler signed his first professional contract with the County during the 2019 season and subsequently penned a two-year extension. However, Allison has been associated with the club since the age of eight years.

Born in Colchester, he started with Colchester & East Essex Cricket Club, before moving to Brentwood Cricket Club in 2018 and has represented England U19’s level. Since then, he has become an ever-present in the Second XI and has been pushing for an Essex First Team debut.

After heavily featuring for the Essex Second XI, Gloucestershire loaned Allison in August 2019. The following year, he made his first XI appearance for Essex in the T20 clash with Sussex Sharks at Chelmsford 2020 season, but that game was a solitary outing for Allison.

In 2021, the Colchester-born played the whole season for Essex Second XI, but his key dream is to become a regular for the First team. Allison is an exciting prospect. He has an awkward angle and action but has very good skills and is very accurate. If Essex persists in this young talent, then the seamer has the potential to bring glories to them.
