Player Bio

A county legend who has been in the business for the past 12 years, Jack Alexander Brooks is a professional English cricketer who made his way through the minor County Oxfordshire and Surrey’s second XI before signing a full-time contract with Northamptonshire in 2008.

Brooks made his first-class debut against the touring Australians on July 24, 2009, and made an immediate impact after picking up 2 wickets in an over. He made his Championship debut a month later and his 5 wickets in the match contributed heavily towards a two-wicket victory over Derbyshire.

Having spent his 12 years in County for three clubs, his time at Yorkshire was the most memorable of them all when he was at the peak of his powers. During 81 first-class outings for the White Rose, he yielded 316 wickets and His 140 scalps in 2014 and 2015 helped the side to back-to-back Championship titles. In an attack consisting of some top-flight players like Ryan Sidebottom, Tim Bresnan and Liam Plunkett, he out-performed them all.

Brooks signed a three-year contract with Somerset for all formats of the game in 2018, which saw him commit to the club until the end of the 2021 season. In May 2021, he became the first covid substitute when he replaced Lewis Gregory on the third day of a Championship fixture. At 37 years of age, Brooks is busy laying the foundations of his final chapter with Somerset before hanging his boots from this beautiful game.
