Player Bio

Miles Arthur Halhead Hammond is an off-spinner who turned into an aggressive top-order batsman. Miles is a former England U-19 international who graduated from the Gloucestershire Academy, later represented his county and then England U-19.

Starting as a right-arm spinner, Hammond is a product of the age-group system. He made his Gloucestershire debut in a 40-over match, at 17 years of age, and shone with the wicket of Gary Ballance on debut.

Later that summer, the youngster made his first-class debut for Gloucestershire in 2013. His off-spin bowling awarded him a tour of South Africa with the England U-19 visiting party. Post the tour, he was named in the squad for the 2014 U-19 World Cup.

After making his first-class debut, the Gloucestershire-born had to wait for three years more to make a Championship debut. As his career progressed, Hammond took his batting seriously to become a quality left-handed stroke-maker.

The southpaw scored his maiden century for Gloucestershire against Sussex in 2018, but he flourished more in the shorter formats, especially in the T20 format. The Cheltenham-based cricketer played a couple of jaw-dropping knocks in the 2018 T20 Blast to build his reputation. The stroke-maker backed it with another solid T20 season as he ended the tournament with the second-highest runs for his team.

The following year saw a dip in the southpaw’s form, however, Hammond was picked by the Birmingham Phoenix for the inaugural edition of 'The Hundred'. A staggering cricketer like Hammond has all the ingredients to produce a tournament-winning season for his edition.
