Player Bio

A domestic legend for the Yorkshire County, Steven Patterson is a highly accurate seamer who is known for providing crucial breakthroughs and expertly controls run-rate as well. Patterson is the club captain of Yorkshire County and has yielded two Championship titles and over 400 first-class wickets. Having retired from the shortest format of cricket, his last appearance in the t20s came in 2019.

The veteran arrived at the domestic scene in August 2003 and made his first-class debut for Yorkshire against Bangladesh. Patterson rose to prominence in 2012 claiming 53 Championship wickets and followed up with another exceptional season with 51 wickets to his name.

The 38-year old led Yorkshire to two back-to-back Championships in 2014 and 2015 respectively and was appointed as the skipper of the County midway through 2018 taking over the responsibilities from Gary Ballance who opted out due to stress and anxiety. In 2017, he almost found himself out of the squad but his capabilities with the bat saw him post an unbeaten 44 against Warwickshire to save them from relegation.

Having taken over 600 wickets for Yorkshire across all formats, Patterson signed another contract extension which will now see him at the club till the end of the 2022 season. An extremely consistent seamer, he would be hoping to dominate the English domestic circuit for another few years before hanging his boots.
