Will Fraine

A highly classy top-order batsman, Will Fraine is a professional English cricketer who played for Worcestershire Seconds.  At University, Fraine featured for Durham MCCU and for the MCC Universities in the Second Eleven Championship, before his breakthrough with Notts.

Fraine, now aged 24, played under 17s cricket for Yorkshire in 2012 and 2013 and skippered Durham University for whom he played four of the five first-class appearances to his name prior to joining the White Rose. Notts handed him a contract midway through 2018 after a string of impressive second-team performances, with him debuting in a T20 Blast clash with Lancashire.

Fraine signed a three-year contract ahead of 2019 from Nottinghamshire but has not been a first-team regular across the subsequent two seasons, yet he has shown his quality against both red and white balls. In 2019, he hit a maiden first-class century in the County Championship victory over Surrey at Scarborough whilst opening the batting against ex-South Africa Test quick Morne Morkel.

Unfortunately, in late 2019, he dislocated his left knee cap twice in the space of three months and required surgery as a result, hampering his preparation for last summer with the Notts. But, with a much more productive winter under his belt, he is hoping to be able to return positive performances across all formats in 2021. For a player who has doubts against the red-ball, it is particularly impressive that he is able to bat with such freedom in the shortest formats.
