Player Bio

A talented wicketkeeper-batsman, Ned Eckersley is a professional English cricketer who previously represented Leicestershire County until 2011-2018  and currently plays for Durham. A domestic legend, Ned has over 100 first-class appearances for the Grace Road outfit scoring 14 centuries.

Ned made his domestic debut in the Championship fixture against Surrey on August 21st, 2011. After 8 years at Leicestershire, the Oxford-born gloveman surprised everyone when he decided to leave the club in 2018. Ned was signed by Durham on a two-year deal and immediately, he impressed with both bat and behind the stumps for Durham in 2019, amassing 720 runs in the County Championship with a best of 118 against Sussex.

The 31-year old was called upon to lead the red-ball side of Durham after Cameron Bancroft did not return due to coronavirus restrictions in July 2020. Now permanent in charge, the wicketkeeper has set his sights on stamping his authority on the role and is eager to take the fight upon the opposition.
