Player Bio

A classy left-handed batter and an occasional orthodox bowler, Chris Dent plays for the Gloucestershire County side. He is already the longest-serving player for the Gloucs in the history of English domestic cricket.

Dent featured in the 2009 edition of the U-19 World Cup and garnered 96 runs in four innings. Then, he made his domestic debut in a List-A game against Nottingham in 2009.

In 2010, Dent amassed 725 runs in the 2010 edition of the County Championship and was promoted to open the batting for Gloucestershire in the following season.

The top-order batter crossed the mark of 1000 runs for the first time in the 2013 edition of the County Championship, wherein he finished with 1049 in 16 games at an impressive average of 45.60.

The veteran registered his highest-ever List-A score of 151* and a first class score of 268 against Glamorgan in 2013 and 2015, respectively and became the mainstay for Gloucestershire. His consistent performances earned him a leadership role in 2018.

The 31-year-old won the 'Batsman of the Year' award for his run-tally of 1087 runs at an average of 47.26, with four centuries in the 2019 edition. His performances also helped the team to get promoted to Division One after a hiatus of 15 years.

In the following edition, the experienced campaigner hit 81* against Worcestershire to register his highest-ever score of 81* in a T20 game.

However, Dent decided to step down from the captaincy role in 2021 after leading the Gloucs team in 45 County Championship games and 20 List-A matches over four years.

In the 2022 edition of County Championship Division One, he has already scored 332 runs at an average of 83.
