Player Bio

(Ben William Sanderson)One of the finest seamers for the Northants, Ben Sanderson is a professional English cricketer who started his journey in the Yorkshire youth system. After doing the hard yards, in 2008 he made his first-class debut for Yorkshire, and suddenly all the hours working on-site seemed to have been worth it. But after 16 outings across all formats in four seasons, he was dumped by the Headingley club in 2011 and he had to start all over again.

Since being pulled from Yorkshire, Sanderson has been a match-winner for Northamptonshire taking a boatload of wickets through all formats. Taking 55 wickets in 2016 and 60 in 2018 helped Sanderson build his reputation as a devastating opening bowler with the red ball in his hands.

Sanderson shot to fame on T20 Finals Day lining up against very strong Nottinghamshire and Durham sides, but the seamer delivered taking 2/21 in the semi-final and 3/31 in the final to help the Steelbacks take the crown.

Sandersonā€™s pitch it up and swing it style of bowling has seen him have vast amounts of success striking over 160 domestic scalps in the past four years. Consistently striking with the new ball, Sanderson was the third-highest wicket-taker in Division Two and earned a place in the Greene King Team of the Year for 2019. His excellent numbers earned him a contract extension in 2020 which will see him at the club for another three years.
