Player Bio

Born to former Zimbabwe international cricketer Kevin Curran, Ben Curran is a left-handed batter representing Northamptonshire in the England domestic cricket. Born on June 7, 1996, he is younger to Tom Curran and elder to Sam Curran.

Ben featured in his first T20 game for Northamptonshire against Derbyshire in August 2018, after scoring 490 runs in 6 matches for Club's 2nd XI Team. Soon, he made his First-Class debut in the same month of the 2018 season of the County Championship against Nottingham.

Until the season's end, the elegant batter garnered 251 runs at an average of 31.37 and registered his highest score of 83*.

In the 2019 edition of the Royal London One Day Cup, Curran made his List-A debut against Worcestershire. In the 2020/21 edition, the southpaw started to feature for the Southern Rocks in Logan Cup, the premier domestic First-Class cricket competition in Zimbabwe and stockpiled 196 runs in 3 innings.

In June 2021, the 25-year-old batter put up a solid show to hit 62 off 33 balls against Durham, which is regarded as one of his best T20 innings. Soon, the Zimbabwe-born stitched a 121-run partnership with Ricardo Vasconcelos in the 2021 edition of the Royal London One Day Cup and registered his highest List-A score of 94.

In total, Curran has featured in 28 First-class matches, 16 List A and 9 T20 games and has amassed 1834 runs, with a total of 12 half-centuries to his name. Although the Northampton-born lad has an average start in the domestic circuit, he can be a valuable prospect for the Northants due to his technique and is an all-format player.
