Player Bio

A right-arm off-break bowler, Andrew Salter started his career on a promising note, picking up a wicket with his first ball on his County Championship debut in 2013; a feat not achieved by a Glamorgan player for 56 years and a rare feat which has only happened thrice in the clubs’ career.

Salter debuted for Glamorgan second XI in 2010, but it took him three years to make a name for himself on the County circuit.

Post his debut season, Salter struggled to cope up with the expectations, but still was an integral part of the Glamorgan side, coached by Robert Croft.

Towards the fag end of the 2017 domestic season, Salter showed glimpses of his ability with the bat and topped the charts for the most number of half-centuries for Glamorgan in the Championship season.

Salter has always been a better white-ball player, than a red-ball specialist. He is a wily customer in the shorter formats of the game and is utilized mainly in the power plays.

A gritty player with both the bat & ball, Salter is a terrific white-ball player who uses his intelligence to fox the opposition batters. Still in the prime of his cricketing career, Salter will be hoping to get an opportunity in the near future to represent his nation at the world stage.
