Player Bio

A potent seamer from Wales, Lukas Carey is a professional cricketer who plies his trade in the County Cricket for Glamorgan. The 23-year-old academy product has become a mainstay of Glamorgan’s bowling attack since making his debut at the age of 19 in 2016.

Carey made his first-class debut against the Northants on August 3rd, 2016, and has been a handy all-round cricketer since. He has progressed from the Glamorgan Academy through Welsh age-group teams and the Wales Minor County side, with Carey currently on the radar of England’s fast bowling scouts.

Predominantly a new ball bowler, the seamer is a handy lower-order batsman who struck a maiden Championship fifty during Glamorgan’s victory over Worcestershire at New Road in 2017. Carey rose to prominence in 2019 when he offered a consistent threat and demonstrated his control in the white-ball formats.  He also showed his increased ability with the bat, with two half-centuries, including a career-best 62 at Swansea.

Carey was awarded a contract extension for 2021 and 2022 and will be looking to cement himself in the attack in all formats for Glamorgan’s first team.
