Player Bio

David Liam Llyod, named after former cricketer turned commentator/journalist/coach, is a Wales-born cricketer who has been representing Glamorgan since 2012, after playing for Wales Minor Counties. Lloyd is a fairly talented right-handed batsman and a handy medium pacer, who was the Young Player of the Year in 2015 and grabbed the One-Day Player of the Year award of 2019.

After featuring in the 2010 Minor Counties Championship, the allrounder was picked by Glamorgan in 2012 to make his first-class debut where he registered a pair at Headingley. However, it was until the latter half of 2014 when Llyod made it into the First XI and topped the average charts in 2015 to be called the county's Young Player of the Year.

2016 was another season to remember for Lloyd as he scored his maiden first-class century against Cardiff MCCU, before adding Championship hundreds to his tally against Kent and Sussex. Though an injury that kept him out for several weeks in the 2017 season.

Llyod came back strongly after the injury and scored his career scores in both First-Class and List-A formats. Later in the next season, Lloyd was in impeccable form during the Royal London Cup to become the One-Day Player of the Year.

2020 saw another injury during the pre-season game for Llyod, but the all-rounder returned for the final five T20 games and scored 160 runs at the top order with a strike rate of around 140. In 2021, the allrounder signed up for a deal with Welsh Fire for the inaugural edition of the Hundred to play the latest format of the game.
