Player Bio

Born in Johannesburg, Stephen Eskinazi is an exciting young, wicket-keeper batsman who currently plays professional cricket for the Middlesex County Club. Eskinazi initially burst onto the scene in red-ball cricket, making his debut at the end of the 2015 campaign, a year before Middlesex won the Championship title.

The 27-year-old is vastly experienced in the longer formats and made his Championship debut against Yorkshire on September 9th, 2015.  Eskinazi, who is England-qualified, enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2016 scoring 609 runs in nine appearances to help Middlesex win the Championship. He was also the second-highest run-scorer in T20 Blast for the club in 2020 and remains an important part of the club's white-ball plans for the upcoming years.

Eskinaziā€™s red-ball form has waned but his stock as a limited-over player has grown exponentially which convinced the club to give him a contract extension in 2021 going into the final year of his contract with Middlesex. After the departure of Gubbins to Hampshire this season, the club is hopeful to see him clock up the runs for Middlesex in the upcoming years.
