Georgia Redmayne, or should we say Dr. Georgia Redmayne. She is an impressive wicket-keeper who has the equally brilliant prowess of a middle-order batter. Apart from cricket, Redmayne is also a resident at Tweed Hospital on the New South Wales-Queensland border.
Born in Lismore, Redmayne has emerged from the age-group levels, representing Alstonville Maroon and NSW State at U-12s, U-15s, U-17s, and U-18s. She then represented Alstonville High School’s team and was later coached by Stan Gilchrist - father of Adam Gilchrist.
In 2014, the youngster earned her maiden breakthrough, when she was added to the New South Wales Breakers squad, to make her WCCL debut in the 2014–15 season. Since then, Redmayne has been taking long heaps consistently.
In 2016-17, the keeper joined Hobart Hurricanes for the second edition of the Women’s Big Bash League, and later in the season, she was selected in the Southern Stars squad to play Sri Lanka.
The Lismore-born became a consistent performer at all representative levels, and her accomplishments were rewarded too. She was awarded Cricket Australia's Betty Wilson Young Cricketer of the Year for 2017-18, before bagging the 50-over Player of the Tournament WNCL in 2018-19.
In May 2019, Redmayne was signed by Queensland Fire for the 2019–20 WNCL season, where she played as a batter. The selectors could not ignore Redmayne’s consistent performances and a national call-up was not too far.
In August 2021, the keeper-batter grabbed her maiden national call-up for the all-format series against India. Redmayne is selected as the third stumper, behind Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney, but Redmayne is more than potent to take on a batter-only role.
