Player Bio

An emerging fast bowler from a young crop of Australian bowlers, Maitlan Brown, has the ability to swing the ball upfront and also knows to target the block holes in the death overs. She is one of those young pacers who can regularly click above 120 kmph.

Born in Taree, Brown played for New South Wales academy and for various youth teams before 2016. She then played for ACT Meteors on an unpaid rookie contract, during the 2016–17 WNCL season.

The pacer went on to play five out of six matches for the ACT Meteors in her maiden season while also having a regular role with the Melbourne Renegades in the WBBL, which helped to earn her a place in a CA development squad to tour Sri Lanka, later that year.

The Taree born didn’t do much, during her maiden WBBL season, in 2016-17 but emerged as an exciting prospect in the following seasons. In the next Big Bash seasons, she took 15, 9, 16 wickets a season, to announce herself.

In 2020, the youngster earned her maiden national call-up for the limited-overs home series against New Zealand, but a serious hamstring injury, which she sustained during WBBL 2020-21, didn’t allow her from debuting for Australia.

Brown had to undergo surgery and then her recovery took nearly two years. However, she returned stronger and earned another national call-up. In August 2021, the youngster was named for the all format India series, which would be a huge learning curve for Brown.
