Player Bio

Holly Ferling is an Australian cricketer who plays for the Australian women’s team and for the Melbourne Stars and Queensland Fire in domestic competitions.

A right-arm fast bowler, Ferling made her international debut in February 2013 and was immediately drafted in the Australian squad for the 2013 Women’s World Cup. She made four appearances in the World Cup and picked up 9 wickets, at an average of 10.55.

Described as a teenage prodigy, Ferling at the age of 14, made her debut in men’s grade cricket in Queensland and bagged a hat-trick with her first three balls.

After a period of injury in 2014, she was drafted into the Australian Test squad for the 2015 series against England. Injuries, poor form and stiff competition from the other players meant that Ferling never played a single Test for her nation post the 2015 series.

She was dropped from the limited-overs side ahead of the 2017 World Cup and subsequently required an elbow surgery that took quite a lot of time to heal.

‘What if Ferling never suffered from injuries? This is the same question that the Aussie team management ponders upon. She had all the tools to succeed at the international level, but injuries ruined everything
