Jemma Barsby

Jemma Louise Barsby is a rare cricketer for Queensland Fire and Adelaide Strikers. She is an allrounder who is popular for her ambidextrous off-break bowling. Barsby is daughter of renowned Australian cricketer/ coach - Trevor Barsby. 

Born in Brisbane, Trevor Barsby had a great influence on Barsby as the cricketer-cum-coach helped the all-rounder nourish as a player. She developed her ambidextrous off-spin bowling skills and also has a penchant for switch-hitting while batting.

The Brisbane-born made her Women’s National Cricket League debut for Queensland in the 2010-11 season at the age of 15, after making her Under-15 debut for the State team. She also won the Betty Wilson trophy at the Under-18 national title in 2012.

The ambidextrous was fast-tracked to play for Australia-A when she toured New Zealand in 2012. She travelled to Dubai with the Australia A Women's in 2015 to take on England Academy. 

Following that UAE tour, Barsby bagged her maiden Women’s Big Bash League contract when she was signed by Brisbane Heat, where she stayed for four editions of the tournament. 

For WBBL|06, the allrounder was bought by Perth Scorchers and then moved to Adelaide to play for the Strikers in the seventh edition. 

With 59 wickets and 358 runs across her WBBL career, the ambidextrous cricketer has been a star performer and has all the ingredients to play for Australia.
