Player Bio

A tall seam bowler who can also swing both ways, Samatha Betts is a professional Australian cricketer for the Perth Scorchers. Predominantly a white-ball cricketer, Betts has been a consistent performer with the white-ball for the scorpions.

Betts began her Women’s Big Bash League career for the Adelaide Strikers in its inaugural edition and moved to the Scorchers in the fifth edition of the WBBL. She played almost every game in 2014-15 WBBL and was known to provide good support for fast bowlers with her medium-pace swing bowling.

In 2014-15, Betts was the hero of the Scorpions’ semi-final victory, taking 2-16 in a nail-biter against Queensland Fire. The speedster became just the third Australian cricketer to pick up a 5-wicket haul in the Women’s National Cricket League since its inception. The 25-year old can swing the ball and has proved to be a valuable asset since joining the team.
