Player Bio

Pakistan has always been known to produce the best of pace bowlers, however, they have also given some world-beating spinners, and Abrar Ahmed has the merits to become another world-beater. Ahmed is an old-school believer who loves flighting the ball and has spectral variations.

Born in Karachi, a 16-year-old Ahmed was touted to be the next-generation star for Pakistan for his unreadable variations of leg-spin, googly, and flipper. The spinner’s journey started in 2014 at the academy level, before gradually moving to the club and district level for his region. He was hand-picked to play for Karachi Under-19s and then played for his state’s senior team.

In 2017, the Karachi Kings management called in Ahmed for the trials, later the spinner was picked to make his T20 debut for the franchise in the 2017 Pakistan Super League (PSL). However, just after two games, he suffered a back injury which meant Ahmed had to miss cricket for a whole year.

A fitter and a stronger Ahmed returned to Pakistan’s domestic circles and bowled impeccably for Sindh. He made his List A and Second Division debut in the 2020 season, before making his first-class debut in the 2020 season of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy where he picked 16 wickets from five games.

For PSL 2021, the Karachi-born spinner was drafted in the Peshawar Zalmi squad. The spinner didn’t get opportunities before PSL got suspended in March.
