Player Bio

A confident stroke player and one of cricket’s hot properties, Sam Robert Hain is a Hong-Kong born professional English cricketer who at the age of 18 broke Ian Bell’s record to became the youngest man to score a county championship century for Warwickshire and he has been breaking records for fun ever since.

The Hong-Kong-born batter made his first 100 in the Under 12s and still rates it as his most memorable cricket moment, along with making his debut for Australia against England in the u-19 quad series held in early 2012. Hain was first spotted by former Warwickshire captain Michael Powell before impressing in trials as a 14-year-old and signed his first professional contract in 2013.

He became the youngest player in the Bears' history to score a first-class hundred in his debut season in 2014, making three more tons that year, including a career-best 208. Hain could not have done much more at the domestic level in his Royal London One-Day Cup appearances, the right-hander has averaged 60 or above in each of the last four campaigns for Warwickshire, topping out at 106.50 in 2018 when he scored a century or a fifty in five of his six innings.

A strong red-ball season in 2019 only embedded him deeper into the national selectors’ notebooks. He was also part of England's initial 50-man training group during last summer's first national lockdown. Hain has also really come to the fore in white-ball cricket during the last three years and his staggering batting average puts him emphatically up with the world’s best.
