Player Bio

Once considered a teenage prodigy, Johannes Jonathan Smit is a Namibian cricketer who made his national debut at the age of 16.

A left-arm fast bowler by profession, Smit made his debut for the Namibia Under-19 side during the 2011-12 season. He quickly rose to fame and was fast-tracked by the national selectors.

Ever since his Under-19 days, Smit has been a regular feature for the Namibian side and has showcased his skills time after time.

After years of hard work, Smit was eventually handed his international cap when Namibia played Oman in the ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament. In his debut game, Smit stamped his authority as he scored a gritty 30-ball 29 with the bat and came back to scalp 3 wickets to completely rattle the Oman batters.

In June 2019, he was selected to play for Vancouver Knights in the Global T20 Canada tournament. As a result, Smit became the first Namibian player to sign for an international T20 franchise.

Ahead of the 2021 edition of the World T20, Smit was drafted in the Namibian squad and expectations from him are quite high.
