Player Bio

Mohammad Sharif, a 5 feet 6 inch-tall, right-arm pacer, emerged on the world stage for Bangladesh as a 17-year-old kid. He was fast-tracked to the international arena on the back of a solid domestic season where Sharif showcased the art of reverse swing. Apart from being a lethal potent with the ball, he was also a handy lower-order batter.

Born in Dhaka, Sharif debuted for Dhaka Division in 2000 and impressed many with just a solitary season. The national selectors called him for the tour of Zimbabwe to make his Test as well as ODI debut. The seamer stayed with the national team for the next whole season but didn’t perform much. Hence, Sharif was dropped when he broke down with a groin injury in 2002.

The pacer returned to Bangladesh national team after a span of five years and again was picked for the tour of Zimbabwe. However, this stint was even shorter as he just featured in two Tests and an ODI, after his comeback.

In 2008, he risked his career by signing up for the Indian Cricket League that led to a 10-year ban for the Bangladeshi. A year later, he returned to Bangladesh to play domestic cricket, but the selectors remained too adamant and never selected Sharif again.
