Player Bio

Chinthaka Jayasinghe was a former Sri Lankan cricketer who donned the national jersey from 2009 to 2010. A hard-hitting batsman and a utility medium-pacer meant Jayasinghe was an instant hit when T20 cricket was invented. However, the allrounder could not achieve much at the highest level but he was a veteran in domestic circles.

The allrounder hailed from the age-group cricket, after playing at the U-13, U-15, U-17, and U-19 levels and also captained the school teams at all these levels. When he graduated to domestic cricket, Jayasinghe became an instant hit as he had consecutive 1000 run seasons in three consecutive years from the 1994-95 to 1996-97 seasons.

Jayasinghe grabbed headlines when he scored twin hundreds in the 1995-96 season. Later he donned the Sri Lanka colors when he toured Malaysia, England, India, Singapore, Canada, Pakistan, and Hong Kong with the Under-19 team. In 1998, the allrounder toured India and Zimbabwe, this time with Sri Lanka A side.

However, he did not get the opportunity to represent the national side until 2009. Jayasinghe’s dashing batting skill set and seam bowling earned the allrounder his maiden Sri Lankan cap on the tour of India in 2009. He was later a member of the Sri Lankan squad for the 2010 World T20 but donned the national jersey in five T20 Internationals only.
