Player Bio

One of the most consistent players for the Tigers, Khaled Mashud is a former Bangladesh cricketer who was their first choice wicket-keeper and was an aggressive lower middle-order batsman.

Mashud was once branded as the ‘best wicketkeeper of Asia’ by former Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore and was part of the side that made its Test debut against India in the early 2000s.

Mashud assumed the captaincy from Naimur Rahman in November 2001 but resigned in 2003 following Bangladesh's disastrous showing in the World Cup after being humiliated by Canada and Kenya as they crashed out of the premier competition in the group stages itself. Later, he contributed to Bangladesh’s first-ever ODI hat-trick by taking two catches off Shahadat Hossain.

Predominantly a red-ball cricketer, Khaled is widely remembered for staging a crucial recovery against the Men in Maroon from a precarious hold, 123/7 to 271/9 in 2004. He scored his first and only Test ton in that match, 103 not out, batting for over five and a half hours.

Due to inconsistency and the emergence of the current skipper, Mushfiqur Rahim before the 2007 World Cup saw the veteran lose his place in the squad, and the following year he announced his retirement from international cricket in 2008. He continued his run in the domestic circuit playing for the Rajasahi division until 2014.
