Player Bio

Kennar Lewis is a hard-hitting top-order batter who loves going berserk against any kind of bowling attack at any kind of condition. Lewis’ partnership of 161 runs with Andre Russell against Trinbago Knight Riders is an instance of his style of batting. Just like any other Caribbean batter, Lewis’ only and biggest problem is consistency.

Born in Jamaica, Lewis made his List A for his country against the Leeward Islands in 2011. That season he opened the innings with Chris Gayle and was part of the title-winning team. Later that season, the opener made his T20 debut during the Caribbean Twenty20, but couldn’t do much in the limited chances he got.

The inconsistent batter returned to Jamaica's squad during the 2013-14 Super50, just to play a single game. Lewis was given a go in the semi-final against Trinidad and Tobago, where his team were bowled out for a mere 49.

Later in the season, Lewis signed with the Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel (now called T&T Knight Riders) to play in the CPL 2014, to become the second-youngest player in that squad. In that CPL edition, the opener played two games to score a total of 5 runs. Three years later, the Jamaican was bought by Jamaica Tallawahs. In the 2017 edition, Lewis got a solitary opportunity.

However, in the following season, he got a long rope in the tournament as he scored 182 runs from eight innings. Lewis’ most celebrated moment came against his former team. He was involved in a match-winning partnership with Andre Russell against Trinbago Knight Riders, where he scored his maiden CPL fifty, helping Jamaica Tallawahs to chase 225 from being at 41-5.

In June 2021, he was selected to take part in the Minor League Cricket tournament in the United States following the players' draft. For the 2021 CPL, Lewis has again been named in the Tallawahs squad, where the inconsistent but talented batter will spend some quality time with Andre Russell, Fidel Edwards and many others.
