Player Bio

A left-handed aggressive batsman, and a useful medium-pace bowler, Kyle Mayers became an overnight sensation for his 4th innings heroics in an improbable run-chase, 210 not out against Bangladesh in 2021 in Test debut.

Mayers is a regular player for Barbados and was part of the West Indies U-19 World Cup squad in 2012. He had a poor tournament and couldn't leave behind the impression that he wanted to leave.

He continued to represent Barbados and on the opening day of 2019/20 West Indies Championship, Mayers scored his maiden century in first-class cricket.

Mayers was named in the West Indies T20I squad to play against New Zealand. He scored 20 runs at a brisk pace, and just when he was looking good, Mayers was dismissed by Jimmy Neesham.

His T20I debut didn’t go as per his plan, but with a number of senior players withdrawing their names for the Bangladesh series, Mayers got a second chance to showcase his skills in the longest format of the game.

In one of the greatest run chases in the history of Test cricket, West Indies were set a target of 395 to win. Mayers started the fifth day's play in Chittagong on 37 not out with the Caribbeans still requiring 285 for an improbable victory. Mayers played out of his skin to score a sublime double ton to pull off the fifth-highest chase in Test history.

The Barbadian finished his innings unbeaten on 210 and became the sixth batsman to score a double century on his Test debut.

Mayers is the biggest star in West Indies cricket at the moment, thanks to his heroics against Bangladesh. A clean hitter of the ball to go along with gentle pace bowling, Mayers can be the all-rounder that West Indies have been craving for ages.
