Player Bio

William Sutherland is an Australian cricketer who plays for Victoria in the domestic competitions and for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League.

He is the former son of James Sutherland, CEO of Cricket Australia. Moreover, in 2017, he signed a multi-year deal with Victoria.

In March 2018, Sutherland won the Commonwealth Bank Future Star Award at the Cricket Victoria awards ceremony.

A bowling all-rounder by profession, Sutherland is a right-arm medium-pace bowler and is a handy middle-order batter who can be trusted with the bat in hand.

He made his first-class debut for Victoria during the 2019-20 Sheffield Shield season and in the Round Eight matches against Queensland, Sutherland took his maiden fifer when he bagged 5 for 34 and won the game for his side.

He was named the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year at the 2021 Australian Cricket Awards.
