Player Bio

Mickey Edwards stands tall at 198 centimetres and has model-like long hair. He once fielded as the 12th man during the New Year’s Test between Australia and Pakistan in January 2017. While running back and forth carrying drinks, Edwards became an instant cult hero with his long flowing blonde locks out in the field.

Edwards is a right-arm fast-medium by traits who dons New South Wales’ blues. Born in Sydney, Edwards started playing for the Manly-Warringah club, before earning a rookie contract for New South Wales for the 2015 season.

However, the seamer was unable to play during the 2015-16 season due to multiple stress fractures, but he worked on his fitness to become a regular for the Blues from the 2017-18 season.

The seamer’s brother, Jack Edwards also plays the sport at representative level. In 2018/19, when his younger brother burst onto the scene, the pair became the first siblings to play together during the semifinal. They also became the first brothers to play for New South Wales since the Waugh twins in 2004.

The Manly-Warringah club product has been associated with Sydney Sixers since the 2017-18 edition of Big Bash League, but have only got two opportunities to wear the Magenta colours. Now in BBL|10, Edwards will be looking to earn more opportunities in the competition.
