Player Bio

A batting all-rounder by profession, Mathew Short made a name for himself at the 2014 U-19 World Cup. He was the leading run-scorer for Australia in the tournament with 237 runs from 6 games at an average of 39.50.

Short is a gritty right-handed batter and can also chip in with right-arm off-break. He is a product of the Victorian Academy and despite boasting a strong performance at the Under-19 World Cup, Short found it difficult getting into the Victorian side.

Short made his first-class debut for Cricket Australia XI against the touring New Zealand side in 2015.

Apart from Cricket Australia XI and Victoria, Short has also played for Melbourne Renegades and he received his first development rookie contract during the 2013-14 BBL season.

Currently, he plays for the Adelaide Strikers and has cemented his place as one of the key figures in their squad.
