Player Bio

A sound batter while hitting and a busy man between the wickets, Jonathan Wells has been in the Australian domestic circles for more than a decade now. He started off as a rookie player who got his first taste of first-class cricket in 2008-09 for Tasmania.

As a young prodigy, Wells was the 2004-05 Tasmanian under-17 Player of the Championships and the 2005 National under-17 Player of the Championships.

The Hobart-born opener was brought in the Sheffield Shield setup, just in his third Rookie year, thanks to a frail Tasmanian top order. He began his first-class career decently but then wore the shoes to become another inconsistent player in Sheffield Shield.

Despite his struggles and inconsistent, Wells became a terrific white-ball batter that earned him a Hobart Hurricanes contract for the inaugural season. He had some on and off seasons domestically, which saw him cut from Tasmania's contract list in 2015.

The Hobart-born moved to Western Australia, seeking more opportunities to play and since then, Wells has been in fairly good touch. His spectacular numbers helped him secure a full contract.

In 2016-17, after six remarkable BBL seasons, Wells signed with the Adelaide Strikers to play BBL|07. He has become craftier for the club to earn the tag of the most experienced players in Big Bash history.

Apart from his batting prowess, Wells is also a gun fielder and will look to loom as a valuable asset in the remaining years of his career as well.
