Player Bio

An aggressive white-ball batsman and the current Steelbacks white-ball captain, Joshua James Cobb made his first-class debut for the Championship giants Leicestershire at the age of just 17 and the occasional off-spinner joined Northants in 2014.

He came to prominence in the 2011 Friends Life T20 finals for his all-round ability striking 4/22 and 18 unbeaten playing down the order. Cobbs was named as the skipper of Leicestershire in 2012 after Hoggard’s resignation. Cobb secured a place in the record books in 2016 after being named ‘ Man of the Match’ domestic T20 Finals for two years in a row, 2015 and 2016.

Cobb has won the club’s T20 'Player of the Year' award for three of the past four seasons and his signature is the latest significant move by the club ahead of an important season that will also see them return to the first division of the Specsavers County Championship. Also capable with the ball, he ended with the lowest economy in the 2019 T20 Blast tournament.

The current Northants white-ball captain signed a contract extension which will see the all-rounder at the club till the end of 2022. Known for his destructive batting in his shortest format he was signed by the Welsh Fire for the upcoming Hundred tournament.
