Player Bio

Malik Ahsan Ahmed is a right-arm medium-pace bowler who plays for the Netherlands cricket team.

A skiddy bowler, Malik can be quite deceptive with his slower one’s. He made his first-class debut against Scotland in 2011 and made his ODI debut against the same opposition in the same year.

A year later, he made his T20I debut against Canada, picking up two crucial wickets at the top to rattle the Canadian lineup.

Malik was drafted in the Dutch squad for the 2014 ICC World T20 held in Bangladesh. He registered his best bowling figures against South Africa, picking up 4 for 19. But despite his scintillating efforts, Netherlands lost a narrow game to the Proteas.

During the 2015 ICC World T20 Qualifiers, Malik was reported for bowling with an illegal action and was not allowed to take any further part in the tournament. He worked upon his action and returned to the national team after six months.

A wicket-taking bowler for the Dutch side, Malik’s career was halted by the suspected bowling action in 2015 and despite making a comeback, Malik was not the same bowler that he was before.
