Player Bio

A former Australian professional cricketer, Micheal Swart is a prolific middle-order batsman who plays international cricket for the Netherlands and domestic cricket for Western Australia.

Hailing from Perth, Swart represented Western Australia State teams in the age group category in the early 2000s and had to wait until 2010 to make his senior debut for the WACA Warriors. Swart made his international debut against Scotland on June 28th, 2011, and could only score 13 before losing his stumps.

His arrival at the international scene made a huge difference for the Netherlands team and was made the captain in 2013. The Netherlands captain holds the record for the highest T20I score by a captain. Swart made 89 off 55 balls with 5 sixes and 6 fours against Kenya in a T20I against Kenya in 2013. Unfortunately, he ended up on the losing side.

The Subiaco-born who was a part of the Netherlands team for the 2014 ICC T20 World Cup failed to make a significant contribution and was dropped from the squad. Lack of consistency saw him out of the squad again in 2016. Having yet to feature in a competitive match since February 2016, it is highly unlikely to see Swart back in competitive cricket at the age of 38.
