Player Bio

A pacer known for his accuracy, control, and seam movement, Graeme McCarter is a professional cricketer for the Irish national team. He started his cricketing journey playing age-group cricket for Ireland in U-13, U-15, and U-19s.

McCarter arrived at the international scene in 2011 and made his debut against Namibia in a first-class match. He played seven times for Ireland between 2011 and 2015, taking 7 wickets, including a best of 3-13 against Scotland in 2013.

Having yet to make a senior appearance since 2015, McCarter is a prominent face for the Northern Knights in the domestic circuit. He claimed 18 wickets across all formats in the last three seasons for the Knights at a decent average to put himself firmly in the frame for an Ireland recall.

However, it was his recent exploits during the Ireland Wolves v Netherlands A series that really grabbed the eyeballs of the national selectors. The renowned pacer scalped 9 wickets in three matches with a best of 6-32. It was a key reason why McCarter now finds himself in the Irish senior squad for their limited-overs series against South Africa.

A natural swing and seam bowler, McCarter has been in the shadow of some world-class pacers in the Irish squad. Despite the lack of opportunities, he will be determined to make the most of his ‘second chance’ to wear the green jersey after a prolonged period of impressive domestic performances.
