Player Bio

One of the most technically gifted players coming through the Dutch ranks, Bastiaan Zuiderent is a former international cricketer who played for the Netherlands cricket team. He made his international debut in 1996 and rose to prominence in the 1996 World Cup.

The right-handed batsman made his ODI debut against New Zealand in the 1996 Cricket World Cup. The Utrecht made a name for himself against England by scoring a quickfire 54 as an 18-year-old, in his very first World Cup tournament.

Three years later, he signed for Sussex and played for them until 2003. Zuiderent was drafted into the Dutch squad for the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup. He struggled throughout the tournament, scoring just 35 runs in six games at an average of just over 5.

Zuiderent matured with age and in the 2007 World Cricket League in Kenya, he averaged more than 50 as Holland finished third in the tournament.

He made his T20I debut in 2009 but struggled to cope up with the shortest form of the game.

A batsman of high calibre, Zuiderent never really showed his true class at the highest level. After a bright start, the talented batsman failed at the biggest stage.
