Player Bio

Born on March 25, 1972, Bryce Edward McGain, is a former Australian cricketer who competed for Victoria and the national team of Australia in one Test match.

At the Sydney Cricket Ground, the wrist spinner made his First-Class debut against New South Wales in 2002. However, he could not maintain a position on the side because of talented Victorian spinners like Shane Warne and Cameron White.

In the 2007 season, McGain settled in for Victoria and recorded 38 wickets at an average of 34.78. Due to this, Terry Jenner, a spin coach, suggested that the leggie be included in the Australian Test team for the home series against India in 2007–2008.

Later, the Victoria-born was nonetheless chosen for the four-Test tour of India in 2008–09 after competing for Australia A in India in September 2008. He participated in a 2-day tour game against the Rajasthan Cricket Association XI but was not given the opportunity to bat or bowl.

At 36, McGain made his Test debut against South Africa in the third Test at Newlands in Cape Town in March 2009. He recorded the poorest figures ever posted by an Australian in a Test match after conceding 149 runs from 18 overs on his Test debut. The 50-year-old’s bowling was the target of multiple sixes from the South African batters.
