Player Bio

A stylish left-hander and a very useful leggie, Scott Borthwick is a professional English cricketer for Durham who made his professional debut back in 2009 against Hampshire has now gone on to score over 9000 first-class runs.

Borthwick has two ODI and one Test under his belt for the Three Lions. After impressing with Durham in his debut season, the Sunderland-born all-rounder was shortlisted to the national squad in 2011. Borthwick made his ODI debut against Ireland on August 25th, 2011 but in a side full of all-rounders, he couldn’t cement his spot.

The leggie joined Surrey at the start of the 2017 season and went on to score over 2300 runs and took 25 wickets in a span of four years with the County.  His most prominent season with the bat came in 2018 when he played an important role at the top of the order leading Surrey to a memorable County Championship victory, averaging over 55 with the bat.

Borthwick made an emotional return back to Durham after four years and scored his first century against Essex in April 2021 since returning back. After plying his all-round skills for Surrey and returning back as an improved cricketer, he holds the key to Durham’s success in the County Championship.
