Player Bio

Molly Strano is an off-break who is coming through the ranks for Australia. She is also a handy middle-order batter, with the ability to knock the ball right around the ground. Hailing from Victoria, Strano is the first female to grab 100 wickets in the Big Bash League, which makes her a T20 specialist.

The offie announced herself during the 2014-15 Women's National Cricket League, topping the wicket-tally with 22 wickets at 12.59. Strano’s performance in the domestic T20 earned her a place in the Commonwealth Bank Shooting Stars squad in 2014-15 Southern Stars teams.

When the spinner started to peak in the domestic circles, an injury occurred. The spinner made a solid comeback in the inaugural edition of BBL, after missing the 2015-16 WNCL season. She was picked by Melbourne Renegades and lit the tournament with both bat and ball.

Post success in the BBL, the Victoria-based spinner was called up to make her T20I debut against New Zealand in 2017. That season, Strano played a couple more games before getting dropped for the next three years.

She had another breakthrough BBL season in 2019-20, where she stunned the opposition batters with her variations by taking 24 scalps at 16.92. Post the BBL, Strano made a comeback, to replace an injured Tayla Vlaeminck, during the World T20 of 2020. The spinner played two games in the tournament.

Strano has donned the Australian colours late in her career but the spinner has impressed the pundits with her temperament and variations. With the age of Strano’s side, she has a lot to offer if she raises the fitness standards.
