Player Bio

A technically sound top-order batsman, Martin Van-Jaarsveld was a professional cricketer for South Africa who received his maiden call-up after an impressive 2001 domestic season amassing 1286 runs smashing 5 tons at an average of 75.

A domestic star, he found it difficult playing at international stages, and after a short career with the proteas playing in a handful of games he retired and signed up with Kent Cricket in 2005. After quitting international cricket, he scored 1192 runs in a Championship season with Kent which included a high score of 262 unbeaten against Glamorgan and finished as the PCA player of the year.

He returned back to South African domestic cricket playing for the Titans, he managed just 145 runs in eight innings. Returning back to Kent in 2007, he never touched the heights as of 2005 but maintained a steady figure in the side. He cemented his spot in Kent’s red-ball team and retired from County cricket in 2012.
