A former Australian fast-bowler, Brett Geeves first debuted at the first-class level in 2004-05, and had a short stint at the international level, before being ruled out, courtesy of his gruelling injury woes.
Nicknamed ‘Banger’, started off well in the domestic arena with 20 wickets in the ING Cup, contributing massively to Tasmania’s title triumph that year. He was eventually selected to play for Australia, as he debuted in an ODI against Bangladesh in 2008. A right-arm medium-fast bowler, he was capable of delivering inswinging yorkers, a skill that once made him a dangerous bowler to face in limited-overs but over time his injuries got the worse of him.
Geeves has played twice for Australia in one-day internationals, taking three wickets at an average of 26. He also played for Australia in a Twenty20 international. Geeves, a handy lower-order batsman, was stranded on 99 during Sheffield Shield on two occasions. His impressive performances got him under the radar of Delhi Daredevils(now Known as Delhi Capitals) for the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League(IPL).
In 2011, he was forced to retire from domestic and international cricket due to a series of back injuries and Geeves started working in radio commentary and other government programs.
