Player Bio

Domestic cricket veteran, Micheal Klinger was a major coup for Western Australia cricket. An elegant top-order batsman, he started his first-class career with Victoria before moving to Western Australia. Scoring almost 2000 runs In the Big Bash League(BBL), he was a star for the Renegades and the third top-most run-getters in BBL history including a top score of 105 not out.

Klinger’s long been involved in on and off-field leadership positions, captaining the Australian Under 19 Men’s team. Twenty20 cricket was clearly his thing from the get-go, Klinger scored 28 from 12 balls in his T20 debut for Victoria against Western Australia in early 2006.

Klinger’s wonderful batting efforts saw Perth lift the BBL title in the 2014-15 season. The batsman did an encore for the Scorchers in the 2016-17 season. This time he was the third-highest run-getter with 334 runs in 10 games Klinger’s wonderful batting efforts saw Perth lift the BBL title in the 2014-15 season. This made Klinger a certified BBL legend.

At the age of 36, he became the oldest player to debut for Australia in a Twenty20 International. He received his well-deserved call-up against Sri Lanka in February 2017, averaging almost 50 in all three games.

He wrapped up a memorable domestic career with one final season for Gloucestershire in England. He signed off on a high note, too, scoring 102, his eighth T20 century,  in his third last match against Kent in August 2019.
