Player Bio

A South Africa-born German-international cricket player, Dieter Klein, a left-arm seamer, has been with Leicestershire CCC. Born in North West Province, Klein started his initial career by representing his native state team, before shifting to England in 2016.

With an experience of 154 first-class wickets, the South African shifted to the United Kingdom, to represent the club across all formats. Klein has been a class act with the ball in hand while contributing highly in the lower order.

Klein made all his Championship, Royal London, and NatWest T20 debuts; to have noteworthy success. In his debut season, the pacer claimed 28 wickets in the County Championship that consisted of two five-wicket hauls that season. Apart from that, he scored 94 runs at Number 10 against Glamorgan, to share a 100-run stand with Gavin Griffiths.

Since then, the bowling-allrounder has reversed a regular seeding in Leics setup, across all three formats of the game. However, in 2019, Klein attended a training camp with the German national cricket team, by virtue of a German passport. Later that year, he played the T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier tournament in Guernsey, before making his international debut against Spain in 2020.

The seamer, still, continues to play for Leicestershire CCC, while he represents Germany on the world stage. At 32, Klein has a lot to offer as his left-arm angle with his pace and accuracy makes the pacer a lethal weapon, while his lower-order batting is an additional asset to have.
