Player Bio

Blessed with a great height and the ability to hit the deck hard, Jamie Overton was once considered as the future of England pace attack, however, injuries have so far hampered his career. Overton plays for Surrey County club and he has a twin brother, Craig Overton who plays for Somerset.

Overton was a part of the England squad for the 2012 U-19 World Cup. The young gun was at his menacing best, constantly bowling at over 150 km/h and troubling the opposition with his hostile bowling.

With just 13 List-A games behind him, Overton was called up to the England ODI squad for their series against Australia. He did not feature in the ODI series but made a good impression on the bowling coach and was then touted as the find of the English summer.

The Barnstaple-born took a six-wicket haul against Middlesex in the 2013 County season and it was pretty evident that he would be selected for the Ashes tour down under later that year. Instead, the speedster was selected for the Lions tour of Sri Lanka. However, Overton pulled out of the series due to a knee injury.

Apart from his hostile bowling, Overton is also known for his hitting abilities down the order. In one of his most entertaining knocks, Overton scored a terrific 69 off just 57 deliveries against Warwickshire in 2014 that showed the world his hitting abilities.

In 2021, Overton was selected in the Manchester Originals squad for the inaugural season of 'The Hundred'.
