Player Bio

Jordan Thompson is an English all-rounder who was born in Yorkshire, has come up from the grassroots to represent the county. He has been donning the Yorkshire colours since the Under-13 days, and made his Championship debut at Durham, in 2019, after an injury to Matthew Waite on the eve of the game.

Thompson was never a usual kid as he was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes at the age of 16, but that didn’t turn his aspiration to become a professional. He has played age-group cricket for the White Rose from Under 13s to Under 19s level, making his first appearance in 2009. The all-rounder debuted for the Yorkshire Second team in late 2013, but did not get a chance in the first team until 2018, when he made nine appearances in the T20 Blast.

The following summer, Thompson scored a bucket full of 736 runs and took 33 wickets for the seconds, before he was handed his First XI cap, courtesy to the Matthew Waite episode. He grabbed the opportunity with both hands and claimed 15 wickets and hit 234 runs for the firsts.

At 24, the Yorkshire man has played 14 FC, one List-A, and 35 T20s matches to scalp 75 wickets and score a useful 851 runs in the middle-order. Thompson still has to up his game to make himself better for the next level.
