Joshua Poysden is a Sussex-born leg-spinner who plays for Yorkshire and has represented the England Lions. He initially started as a wicketkeeper but got impressed by Pakistan and Sussex legend Mushtaq Ahmed who changed Poysden for good.

Poysden is a master of spin as his accuracy and wicket-taking approach make him a standout. Born in Sussex, the spinner made his first-class debut for Cambridge MCCU back in 2011, started impressing every pundit and selector from the word go. But it took him three years to sign a career-defining deal with Warwickshire. He made his Championship and T20 Blast debut for the Bears, in 2014.

The leggie worked closely with former Australian cricketer Stuart MacGill, during his grade cricket times in Sydney. Back in the UK, he played a decent part at Warwickshire, however, his tenure collided with Adil Rashid. Hence, he ended his stint to join Yorkshire in 2018 in search of more opportunities.

The spinner initially migrated to the White Rose, as a loaned player, before signing a three-year contract. In mid-2019, he suffered a fractured skull having been hit in the nets, and was not fit to return until the start of 2020. Post the pandemic break, Poysden returned to the field as good as the old Poysden.

At 29, the spinner has only played 14 first-class fixtures as opposed to 32 in List A cricket and as many in T20. He has taken two Championship five-wicket hauls, and has also scalped 30 and 26 wickets, respectively, but Poysden is much better than that, if he gets regular opportunities.
