Jonathan Tattersall

Not only Jonathan Tattersall is a player who has been afforded a second bite of the cherry with Yorkshire, but he has also been turned into a wicketkeeper, just for the sake of playing cricket. Started off as a leg-spinning all-rounder, Tattersall is an academy talent from Yorkshire. He has played for Under-17s and Under-19s, before captaining the Second XI between 2012 and 2014. But the Yorkshire-born got released by the county in 2015, before earning back a contract by Yorkshire in 2017 when he bettered himself to become a wicket-keeper batsman. 

Tattersall also represented England Under-19s at the ICC World Cup in the UAE, helping the team reach the semi-finals, where he scored 176 runs, including a best-score of 95 runs. However, he made his List-A debut in 2013 but his first-class and T20 debuts came in 2018. In between that time, he played minor counties for Lincolnshire, when the White Rose released him. 

Since his second stint with Yorkshire, the wicketkeeper-batsman has been impressive both with the bat and with the gloves. His breakthrough season came in 2020, where he scored 265 runs at an average of 44.16 in the Bob Willis Trophy, while holding on to the gloves in both white-ball sides, in the absence of Jonny Bairstow. 

At 26, the keeper-batsman has played 34 first-class fixtures as opposed to 15 in List A cricket and 35 in T20. He has already taken 121 catches and has also scored 2293 runs, including 15 fifties and one FC hundred. However, Tattersall would need to get regular opportunities, to better his game.
