Player Bio

Alex Blake is one of the hardest hitters of the ball, currently present in English circles, and has been used as a fiery finisher by Kent since his debut. The Kent-born is a left-hand batsman and a part-time medium-pacer too.

Blake is a byproduct of the county academy system, coming through the ranks, the southpaw has represented Kent’s minor county team and then England U-19, before making his first-class debut against New Zealanders in 2008.

The southpaw is a gifted hard-hitter and has flourished as much in the red-ball format. However, his success in the limited-overs format is unparalleled. In 50-over cricket, Blake is known to bat at run-a-ball speed, while his wonders in the shortest format are second to none.

During the 2019 T20 Blast, the hard-hitter scored an under-pressure 57 off just 38 balls, in the final, to take his team home over Hampshire. The victorious knock of 2019 was the carbon-copy of Blake wonder’s against the same opposition where he smacked a 30-ball 70, to earn the reputation of a white-ball giant.

The Kent-born batsman has been loyal to his county since the very beginning, he declined the offer from Sussex for good. In 2020, Kent signed a new white-ball contract with Blake, making him the first homegrown player to sign such a deal with the county.

In 2021, the Oval Invincibles drafted Blake into the squad for the inaugural season of the Hundred. Over the years, the southpaw has showcased his calibre in the white-ball formats, hence, the 100-ball is somewhat like a tailormade format for a player like Blake.
