Player Bio

A young and promising top-order batsman, Jack Burnham is a professional English cricketer. Burnham has been part of Durham’s county set-up since playing for the U-19s and in 2016, he broke Alastair Cook’s record for the most runs scored by an Englishman in U-19 World Cup.

Burnham made his first-class debut against Yorkshire On August 7th, 2015 at the age of 18. Just when everything was falling to place for the youngster, he was handed a year-long suspension from competitive cricket after testing positive for a recreational drug. He spent a year working as a labourer digging holes at construction sites before bouncing back to County cricket in 2019.

Burnham feared his career might be over but Durham stuck by him when they could’ve sacked him. Desperate to make up for the lost time with Durham, he hopes that piling up runs for his County will catch the eye of national selectors and his dream of playing for the Three Lions might turn out to be true in the near future.
